Between making new weapons and armors, making potions and enchanting items, Minecraft provides players with many different ways to become stronger. Enchanting especially allows players to focus on certain types of threats, and is very useful for players who know the threats they will face in advance. Smite enchantment is one such situation, because it is very specific but very powerful in that situation. Players who want to know what it does and how to get it do not need to know more, because it is relatively easy to place high-level Smite enchantments on weapons.
Note- Before players can perform any enchantments, they need to obtain an enchantment table. Minecraft players can create them with four obsidians, two diamonds and a book. After setting up an enchantment table, players will want to surround it with a bookshelf, as this will increase the level of enchantments it can produce.
Smite is a weapon enchantment, which means it can only be applied to swords and axes. Each level of Smite on the weapon increases its damage by 2.5 (or 1.25 hearts), but this damage is only effective when attacking undead creatures. Because there are many such things in Minecraft, this is usually not a bad trade-off.
For reference, the sharpness enchantment adds 1.5 points of damage per level to everything, which means that Smite is much better against undead creatures. This enchantment will affect skeletons, zombies, zombie villagers, withers, wither skeletons, zombie piglins, skeleton horses, zombie horses, strays, husks, phantoms, drowned, and zoglins.
The Smite enchantment can reach level 5, and with Smite V applied to a weapon, it deals with 12.25 additional damage to non-dead creatures. For the good of the comparison, that means that a wooden sword with Smite V will do more damage to the undead than a Netherite sword without keys. From there it becomes easy to see how this enchantment would any enchantments. It is important to bear in mind that it is impossible to obtain Smite and sharpness in the same sword or axe, since the weapon damage enchantments like these are mutually exclusive.
Players can obtain Smite enchantment by enchanting the sword or axe on the enchanting table. This will cost the player’s level, as well as some lapis lazuli, and even then, the available enchantments are random. If the player completely surrounds their enchanting table with a bookshelf, then they may get “Smite 5” directly from the enchanting table.
