Kazhin enjoys reading books about the history of the Sea People while he runs the Seed Shop in Dave the Diver. As Dave gains the trust of the Sea People by progressing through the story, players will unlock opportunities to work with the seed vendor. As it turns out, Kazhin can’t seem to find something he was perusing, which triggers the “Kazhin’s Reading Time” quest. Also known as the Reading Book quest, Dave must find Kazhin’s missing literature.
For the Reading Book quest in Dave the Diver, players won’t need to travel far; the objective is to visit Niamo’s Temple and borrow a book. The problem that some players might run into is which book to select from the temple, which houses texts and records of the Sea People. There are only three to pick from, though if players can recall the book title, they’ll be ready to complete Kazhin’s quest.
Dave the Diver players can solve the mystery behind Kazhin’s Reading Book quest by visiting the King Long Shrine temple. Speak with Niamo, the bookkeeper, and they’ll give Dave three books to pick from. The book players are looking for is titled: “There are Mutant People in the Basement, and as King I Can’t Just Stand by, I Must Do Something” Volume 2 [sic]. It’s the third book Niamo presents to Dave; select the corresponding book, return to the Seed Shop, and then speak with Kazhin to complete his Reading Time quest.
As Dave the Diver players progress through the game, unlocking regions, more seeds will become available. But don’t just settle for less; upgrade the seeds whenever possible with Kazhin. Doing so will result in plentiful harvesting sessions that Dave can use to assemble recipes.
As a result of completing Kazhin’s Reading Time quest, the eponymous seed vendor of Sea People Village will reward Dave with a few gifts. Firstly, Dave will receive 20 Bei to spend on items with the Sea People in their village and 15 Credit toward their trust.
Secondly, Kazhin will donate a bag of Seaweed Seed to Dave. While it can’t be farmed in Dave’s usual ways, players can bring the item to Gumo in the village to plant. Alternatively, players can collect Seaweed by searching through the shallow and medium depths of the Blue Hole, or 0-130m below the surface level. Seaweed serves as a sushi ingredient for a few recipes at the restaurant, so Dave must collect the algae.
Aside from working with Kazhin in the Sea People Village, there are other sections that Dave can visit. For example, Duwa of the Sea People can help Dave by providing materials for endgame weapons. Moreover, the Glacial Passage will offer further diving opportunities as players explore more of the Blue Hole.
