Setting the right skills and weapons for your character in The Ascent is critical to your progress. Although you can manually update almost all aspects of flatliner, the Cyberdeck part works differently. You must collect them while exploring the world of Veles.
When modifying the inventory, you will need to spend uCreds and points to move forward. In the case of updating Cyberdeck, you don’t need to spend anything at all. All you need to do is pay attention to the glowing red chips during the mission.
By purchasing these chips, your Cyberdeck will be automatically upgraded. Some may be in the chests, some may be on top of something. Although collecting these updates is optional, it is recommended that players find them when exploring Veles for hacking.
The loot can be found almost anywhere, and will be used automatically when picked up. You can unlock a total of 10 Cyberdeck levels, but there are more than 10 upgrades that can be found in the game as loot. So you don’t have to worry about losing one.

To view your current Cyberdeck level, go to the Character tab in the pause menu. It will be located below skills and Bounties. If you continue to get the Cyberdeck level, you will be able to hack ATMs, bypass ICE doors and unlock advanced chests. Therefore, you don’t necessarily need them to make progress in the game, but it can be useful when you want to fully explore the game.
