How to Join a Friend's Server in Project Zomboid

As an open-world zombie RPG where you must survive for as long as possible, one of the most important things you can learn in Project Zomboid is how to heal yourself and recover quickly from damage. While there is technically no cure for zombie infection, there are various other illnesses that are curable.

In this guide, we’re going to break down everything you need to know about how to cure sickness in Project Zomboid.

There are currently three types of sickness in Project Zomboid; colds, food poisoning and infections. Here’s a full breakdown for how you can cure all three.

Infection can refer to either a zombie infection or another infection caused by not bandaging a wound or failing to keep it clean. If it’s a zombie infection, then this will result in you becoming a zombie as there is no cure.

However, if it’s just a standard infection, then you can prevent this preemptively by using better bandages and disinfecting the wound. Disinfecting after the infection has started also helps in the recovery process. Although, it’s really just a waiting game, so, the best cure for infection is rest.

I would also recommend getting the First Aid skill, which is a crafting skill you can use to heal yourself and other players. As your First Aid level increases, you will be able to disinfect wounds and make bandages faster. Which will ultimately help you heal faster and cure your infection over time.

Food poisoning

Players can get food poisoning from eating bad food or drinking tainted water. The good news is that this is something that will go away naturally on it’s own. The bad news is that there’s no real way to cure it outside of keeping yourself well fed, getting lots of sleep and watching what you put in your body.

So long as you haven’t eaten any poisoned berries or other food that could kill you, you should recover in no time. Once you get to the “Fever” stage, the moodle will disappear and you will be healthy once again.

Colds are the last type of sickness you can get in Project Zomboid. Which you typically get from having a “Wet” moodle for too long by staying out in the rain or cold weather. As a result, the best way to cure this type of sickness is by heading to a safe location (like your home) and resting there for a few days. Generally, the best cure for a cold is to stay dry, keep yourself hydrated and get lots of sleep.

You should also try to eat well when you’re at home resting, at least until you get the green “Well-fed” moodle. Which will help you heal and recover quicker. This means that you should stock up on food and water as much as possible so that you don’t have to venture out too much when you’re sick. Since this could worsen your situation.

If you’re unable to cure your sickness after a few days and it has increased to “Nauseous” or “Fever”, then you are most likely infected.
