EA Sports’ F1 22 has officially arrived, and is available to play on any Xbox, PlayStation or PC device. Meaning that Formula 1 fans can now take to the tracks to test out some of novel supercars and fascinating real-life circuits. Including the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Yas Marina Circuit and the new Miami International Autodrome.

Being that F1 22 is the official game of Formula 1, it replicates the 2022 season and does its best to simulate real-life racing. However, just like professional racers, you will need to take part in practice sessions before you’re ready to jump in and race against other players.

Luckily, there’s a way for you to simulate these practice sessions in F1 22.

Much like in real life, practice sessions serve a variety of purposes. Not only can they help the driver become more accustomed to a particular circuit, learning all the twists and turns of a track before meeting rubber with road. But they can also help to give an idea for how well a vehicle is performing prior to the race.

So, it’s a vital part of the process, especially if you’re just getting started in F1 22.

Although, once you’re familiar with all of the controls and are feeling ambitious enough to jump right into a race, you can always simulate the practice session as well.

How to Simulate Practice in Career Mode

Assuming that “Practice Format” is on, you can simulate a practice session by either:

  1. Pressing X instead of A (for Xbox) or Square instead of X (for PlayStation) prior to the event, thus simulating the event.
  2. Or you can select the “Qualifying” or “Race” portion of the event using A (or X for PlayStation) to skip the practice session entirely.

To remove the practice formate completely in Career Mode, go up to the top-right tab and look for “Practice Format”. Click A (or X for PlayStation) to turn it off.

How to Simulate Practice in a Grand Prix event

  1. Shut off the practice option by setting “Practice Format” to “Off”.
  2. To skip practice but keep the qualifying portion of the weekly events, make sure that these remain on.
