Elden Ring Whetblade Places Location | Where to Find

Using a Whetblade is one of the many ways to improve your weapons in Elden Ring. There are a total of five to be discovered, with each one allowing access to certain affinities. These allow you to customise weapons and armaments based on your emphasis stats. However, you’ll also need to find the Whetstone Knife in order to be able to assign affinities and Ashes in the first place. Continue reading to learn where to find all Whetblades and how to unlock each weapon affinity in Elden Ring.

Whetstone Knife

This item is practically a no-brainer; you may have even come upon it by chance. Because it is located in the subterranean region of the southeastern Gatefront Ruins, the Whetstone Knife will be discovered fairly early. The Whetstone Knife, unlike other proper Whetblades, does not unlock any affinities. Rather, it grants the ability to change affinities and add Ashes of War to weapons. Obviously, you’ll want to make this your first stop.

If you haven’t already, you can change out Ashes of War by resting at a Site of Grace. Ashes of War will be allocated and reassigned at will, so don’t be afraid to try out different combat techniques. You’ll notice that your weapon’s affinity changes as a result. That’s where the remaining Whetblades come in: they allow you to customise both your Ash of War and your weapon’s affinity.

Iron Whetblade

The Iron Whetblade can be found within Stormveil Castle. You must spend one Stonesword Key to obtain it. It’s not difficult to get there. Take the elevator down from the Rampart Tower Site of Grace. To the left of the chamber, you’ll notice a courtyard guarded by a Grafted Scion. Dispel the fog with the Stonesword Key, and you’ll arrive to an armoury with a corpse sitting in front of the hearth. Take the Iron Whetblade from the corpse.

This item allows you to add the Heavy, Keen, and Quality affinities to a weapon. Heavy will increase the weapon’s Strength scaling at the expense of all other stat scaling. Keen benefits Dexterity at the expense of Strength and foundation injury. Finally, Quality adds a little amount to both Dexterity and Strength, but at the expense of base injury.

Glintstone Whetblade

The Glintstone Whetblade may be found at Raya Lucaria Academy. To begin, plan your approach for the Grace Debate Parlor Site. Turn around and go out into the courtyard. Just beyond the exit, to the left, is a stairway that goes up to some Noble Sorcerers kneeling. The Whetblade is in the chamber where the Nobles are kneeling. Fight your way through the chamber, keeping an eye out for nearby mages, then switch to the exact. A body is stretched over the balcony railing near the doorway. Take the Glintstone Whetblade from this body.

This Whetblade can provide your weapons Magic or Cold affinities, both of which can increase Intelligence scaling. If you choose to add Magic injury, it will reduce your Strength, Dexterity, and Base Damage. Selecting Cold, on the other hand, will increase Frostbite accumulation to attacks at the expense of every other stat scaling.

Red-Hot Whetblade

The ferocious Red-Hot Whetblade may be found inside Redmane Castle. Keep in mind that in order to access the area holding this Whetblade, you must not be in the midst of Ranni’s questline’s Radahn Festival part. However, if you obtain it earlier or come back later, you will be allowed to enter the chamber.

Starting from the Chamber Outside the Plaza Site of Grace, simply rush through the fire-throwing foes on the left-hand side and you’ll be on your way to this area in no time. It’s worth mentioning that an Iron Maiden foe will ambush you as you go over the planet, so be ready.

The Red-Hot Whetblade has the ability to apply Fire or Flame Art to a weapon. While they appear to be connected, they provide completely separate benefits to your weapon. The Fire Affinity simply adds Fire Damage to your weapon at the expense of lesser scaling across the board. Flame Art, on the other hand, adds Fire Damage to a lesser amount and increases Faith scaling.

Black Whetblade

By far the most difficult to find would be the Black Whetblade. It is found in Nokron, specifically in the Night’s Sacred Ground. This spot will not be available until you beat Starscourge Radahn, an optional boss in Elden Ring. If you haven’t faced him yet, you’ll be able to cheese him by using Rotten Breath. However, if he has already been defeated, your task is nearly complete.

Begin in Nokron to obtain this Whetblade. You’ll need to dash across the roofs toward the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace. You must notice gigantic, damaged statues close to some steps from here, and you must be able to swoop down into a dome roof and plan your approach to a large balcony with a Silver Tear adversary. A crumbling arch leads past here into the area where you’ll locate the Black Whetblade in front of the altar.

This item can give your weapons Poison, Blood, or Occult affinities. Occult increases Arcane at the expense of every other scales, whilst Blood does the same only it also causes Bleed after harm. Poison, on the other hand, delivers not just Poison Damage but also increases Strength, Dexterity, and Arcane scaling.

Sanctified Whetblade

The Royal Capital of Leyndell will be visited by the Sanctified Whetblade. Beginning in the Fortified Manor First Floor Site of Grace, make your way outside, toward the West Capital Rampart Site of Grace, and look for the tree leaning in the direction of the wall. A wood trail on the precise aspect of the tree may bring you inside the crumbling area of the manor. The Sanctified Whetblade may be found just inside the door of a short stairwell.

This ultimate Whetblade may be used to provide a weapon Lightning or Sacred affinities. Sacred increases Holy Damage and Faith scaling while decreasing basic harm. Lightning will increase Lightning Damage and Dexterity scaling while decreasing basic injury and Strength scaling.
