Traveling across a galaxy far, far away is a somewhat lonely game. With just Cal and his crew, it might do a soul good to provide some levity to space travel. That’s why the ability to customize the Mantis was such a fun part of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Minor modifications to the paint job of your star ship were scattered all over each map. So, did Jedi: Survivor follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and let you customize the Mantis? Or are you stuck with that dark grey color that we’ve all gotten used to?

Blasting through the galaxy… But can you do it in style?

Is the Mantis Spaceship Customizable in Jedi: Survivor?

Unfortunately, the Mantis can not be customized in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. There is no way to give it a new paint job or change its interior in the current patch of the game. This is a departure from the only other game in the series, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, where you could at least paint the ship. It is possible that Mantis customization may come in future updates, but it is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Back in the previous game in this mini-franchise, players could customize the outside of the Mantis with 12 different paint jobs. These styles were primarily references to other media in the Star Wars universe. While they held no gameplay functionality, they did serve as another collectable for Cal to find while exploring planets.

Unlike its successor, Jedi: Fallen Order allowed players to customize their ship.

Cal does not have the same challenge in Jedi: Survivor. There are no paints currently in the game, scattered around planets or otherwise. It seems that the emphasis was taken off of your Mantis and the crew, and more on your equipment. This is fair enough, as you spend a lot more time looking at Cal than looking at the outside of the ship. Even so, the references to various star-destroying ships did bring a bit of extra personality to the Mantis. It wouldn’t be heavily surprising to see the paints return, maybe as paid DLC or as part of a content addition.

What Can You Customize in Jedi: Survivor?

That being said, Jedi: Survivor has plenty of ways to customize its main character to your liking. Cal has a wide away of beards and hairstyles that you can have him wear, found in chests and shops. This sets the theme for most of the customizations: Many you can find in various chests across the planets, though some require more in-depth quests.

While most customizations will be found in the wild, you will be able to locate several of them in shops across the galaxy. However, each customization type has its own shop that it prefers.

  • Hair and Beards: Doma’s Shop in Rambler’s Reach Outpost, in exchange for Priorite Shards.
  • Clothing: Doma’s Shop in Rambler’s Reach Outpost, once again exchanging for Priorite Shards.
  • Lightsaber Materials: Sister Taske’s Shop on Jedha, in Cere’s Base. You will need Jedha Scrolls if you want to trade for these.
  • Blaster Parts: Caij’s Bounty Board on Pyloon’s Saloon – on Kodoh – has several barrels, bodies, and grips. To buy them, you’ll need to first complete the “Research Tanalorr” mission. Then, you can trade Bounty Pucks for these cosmetics.
  • Generic Weapon Materials: Sister Taske’s Shop on Jedha in exchange for scrolls.
  • BD-1 Parts: Zee in Pyloon’s Saloon buys these for Data Disk.

None of these many cosmetics augment your combat style, damage, or speed in any way. You can equip whatever you’d like without affecting how you play Jedi: Survivor.
