amnesia:-the-bunker-announced-by-frictional-games

Jump scares are a common aspect of modern horror games, which is why many eyes are on subtle horror series. The revered Amnesia games series will add more to this with their upcoming sequel. Called Amnesia: The Bunker, the upcoming title aims to continue the dark, twisted, subtle horror the series is known for. Each entry appears to be similar to the universe only, meaning this new game follows different characters in another time period. Based on the current details, The Bunker looks to have elements that previous entries haven’t. Here’s what we know so far.

Amnesia: The Bunker Announced

It was over 12 years ago that Frictional Games exploded onto the scene with Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Since then, two separate sequels have been spawned. Amnesia: Rebirth launched in 2020, and Amnesia: The Bunker is planned for the future. The series has made an impact for being about puzzle-solving. That, and hiding in a dark and terrifying environment that you don’t fully understand. From what the trailer reveals, it seems there are several elements which aren’t found in previous games. The most notable is the fact that the main character possesses a firearm, an object unfamiliar to the series.

The Amnesia games all follow different storylines, but all have a similar core. By and large, the games follow a seemingly average person who becomes embroiled in something dark and sinister. Using what little information they know, the player must guide the defenseless character through a haunting environment filled will grotesque entities. The goal is always to advance through the rooms, solve puzzles, and avoid the monsters without lingering around them. This combination of pressure and fear of the unknown made for a scary premise that has continued to explore this base in other scenarios with a bunker being the upcoming setting.

Amnesia: The Bunker is still a few months away, being tentatively in development for March of next year. Players still have a few months to prepare to re-enter this dark realm once more.
