Mishandling and neglecting treatment for an infection in 7 Days to Die will ultimately lead to a bloody death. Given the apocalyptic circumstances at hand, it’s always good to keep your health in tip-top shape. Of course, this is always easier said than done, both in reality and in 7 Days to Die. But in the latter, if the zombie infection latches onto you, is there a way to cure it? Or are we doomed from the moment we get that bite mark from an undead foe? Let’s get into it and find out.

How to Cure Infection in 7 Days to Die

Survivors in 7 Days to Die have a few methods to consider that will help eradicate their infection, and they come in the form of three distinctive items. These include Antibiotics, Herbal Antibiotics, and a Jar of Honey. They’re all buffs for treating infection, with each providing different levels of effectiveness. You can obtain these medical supplies in a couple of ways, so gather up your gear for some work to be done.

When it comes to understanding the infection in 7 Days to Die, one must always be aware of its potential stages. They come in four, with the final one acting as imminent death. As one would have it, each additional stage increases the infection’s intensity, all stemming from a single bite.

Stage 1 offers no changes to your person, but that’s merely the mercy round. Stage 2 kicks up the infection with a 25% decrease in your stamina’s regenerative rate. Then there’s Stage 3, where the stamina rate is lowered to 35%. Additionally, it imposes a -1 debuff to all attributes. And finally, we have Stage 4, where you ultimately meet your maker at the hands of a zombified bite.

Curing Methods

Before we can start to assume the worst here in terms of infection, let’s go through some of the locations and methods that will lead you to the essential medicines.

Firstly, you’re more likely to locate Jars of Honey than either of the antibiotic offerings. The jars are usually found in medical-related spots, which are the Pop-N-Pills Crates, abandoned ambulances, medical containers, and pill cabinets. Consuming a jar will reduce your infection by 5%, so its usage is more directed toward the early stages of the deathly disease.

Secondly, when it comes to both antibiotic supplies, you’ll have options. You can undoubtedly find the general Antibiotics by also looting through the medical-related spots that we mentioned above. But if you’re not in the mood to step outside for another round of looting, you can instead craft these.

It can be done in two ways:

  1. Mix 4 Old Sham Sandwich, 3 Nitrate Powder, and 1 Bottled Water at a Campfire with a Beaker. Must have learned the respective recipe or achieved Physician level 4.
  2. Mix 1 Old Sham Sandwich, 1 Nitrate Powder, and 1 Bottled Murky Water at a Chemistry Station. Must have learned the respective recipe or achieved Physician level 4.

Antibiotics are the strongest of the bunch, producing a 25% input for the user. It’s intensely stronger than the final option we have here: Herbal Antibiotics.

Unlike its helpful brethren, Herbal Antibiotics can only be crafted; you won’t find them anywhere in the game while you search, loot, and kill.

You can make these with one of two methods:

  1. 5 Blueberries, 3 Mushrooms, 3 Chrysanthemum Flowers, 3 Nitrate Powder, and 1 Bottled Water at a Campfire with a Cooking Pot. Must have learned the respective recipe.
  2. 2 Blueberries, 1 Mushroom, 1 Chrysanthemum Flower, 1 Nitrate Powder, and 1 Bottled Murky Water at a Chemistry Station. Must have learned the respective recipe.

Consuming Herbal Antibiotics will provide you with a 10% effective rate in terms of diminishing your deadly infection. The higher your infection is, the more medical supplies you will have to intake. However, if your infection levels are low, start off with the smaller dosages (Jars of Honey and Herbal Antibiotics) before moving on to the stronger stuff.

Tips for Aftercare

Once your infection clears, we recommend stocking up on Vitamins to ensure that another contamination does not come into play. While taking Vitamins, your chances of being infected are no longer there, as long as you’re taking your Vitamins. You can obtain these by looting through Pop-N-Pills pharmacies.

Of course, you always try to avoid any oncoming infected attacks, but that’s entirely on you if you’ve got the reflexes and equipment to prevent another infection. Just be sure to keep your eyes peeled as you step outside of your base of operations. You never know who may be waiting around at the front door.
